In addition to the annual interclub race between Liss Runners and Midhurst Milers it was also arranged to hold the Athletic section of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Games in the same event . The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Games is a day where competitors from sports councils around Hamphire and the Isle of Wight get togther to take part in a number of different sports . This year it was Petersfield's turn to host .

A five mile long course was measured around a number of lanes to the area to the East of Petersfield . The start and finish being at Durford Mill . From the start county runner Toby Lambert from Alton took an early lead . He cruised round the whole course extending his lead the whole way to finish over three minutes in front of second placed Tom Frost from Petersfield . Third was Alton's Keith Vallis . For the ladies it was a good win for Midhurst's Natasha Mould only beating Linda Marais from Liss by 16 seconds . Third was Diane Byrne from Alton .

For the teams strength in numbers gave Petersfield District and Liss Runners wins in all sections. Keeping the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Games - Athletic section and Interclub Shields for another year.

Many thanks to all the runners who attended , all the helpers and marshals who did a fantastic job and a special thank you to MCI UK who kindly allowed us to use their car park.
